The Continental R was Bentley's answer for the Millennium, a car to take them into the future and the first Bentley for many years to have no Rolls Royce equivalent car built for the discerning owner driver designed by two of this country's leading designers in collaboration with the factory's own engineers and experts in trim and finishes.
The budget awarded to the new design team was huge by the companies standard and marked the importance of the car to the parent Rolls Royce under Vickers.
The book "The Continental R by Ian Adcock" was commissioned by the factory and plotted the story in photography and text the development from day one of the car and the people involved, this was probably unique for any manufacturer and brings the car to life and its importance for it to succeed, and it certainly did, the car offers a modern approach without loosing any of the bespoke quality that befits a Bentley.
This example is exactly the same specification and colours as the car featured in the book above and as such still retains features that were lost in subsequent years as seats and trim were sourced from outside suppliers, it is no coincidence the wheels on the first years of production mirrored the Concord's and that the engine cam covers still had Bentley in the time honored black enamel proudly shown under the bonnet, these features are all to be found on this car and confirm that this car will be important for its originality and the book confirms this example to be such.
The book "The Continental R" is a collectors item today and is very sort after by both owners and collectors and can only reflect the investment value of the car going forward as it was to be the last true Bentley built by the Rolls Royce Bentley company.
This stunning Bentley Continental R finished in diamond Blue Silver with Magnolia leather was one of the early production cars having been finished in February 1993 where the vehicle was delivered to the USA and registered in August that same year to a lady in Indian Wells, California. This car was very special to her and that much so she brought it with her and it was registered in the UK for the first time in August 1994.
